About This Blog
FastGov is an act of "found innovation" as
inspiration for institutional improvisation in public service. Like found
art and found objects, found innovation is a collection of seemingly unrelated things from almost
anywhere that may have a bearing on where government is going, even (and maybe
especially) when the implications are not entirely clear. The blog is
never intended to be the last word on anything, but perhaps the next word on
everything as we think through the gut instinct that there is a there there.
Decidedly eclectic and sometimes irreverent, FastGov is also an act of
flattery. FastBusiness magazine had been an important chronicler
and looking glass during the dot-com era. It did not attempt to displace
the Harvard Business Review but was convinced there were other stories
to tell in thinking through where business was going. It is time to bring that kind of thinking to doing the public's business ... and the conversation starts here.
